Support is provided for up to 12 months but it is entirely up to you how quickly you work through the course. The estimated study time is 36 hours so if you average around 5 hours a week study you would complete in 3-4 months.
The course is studied distance learning via a student pack which is delivered hard copy in folders. This is yours to keep so you can write on it, make notes etc.
Support is provided throughout the course via a tutor who can be emailed at any time should you come across anything you are unsure of. There is also a support team by telephone.
The course is split into two units.
In unit one students will be required to complete a series of worksheets to determine their understanding of key concepts and materials.
In unit two students will complete a case study.
The good news is there are no exams! Once you have completed all the assignments you complete the course.
You will need to have completed one of the following qualifications to be able to enrol on the course:
Unit 1: Physical activity and health considerations for the older adult
Unit 2: Designing and adapting exercise programmes for the older adult
At the end of this course successful learners will receive an Active IQ Level 3 Award in Designing Exercise Programmes for Older Adults. This means that you will achieve a Level 3 qualification on the Regulated Qualification Framework.
Your qualification is accredited by Active IQ one of the UK's leading Ofqual approved awarding bodies in the health, fitness and active leisure sector. In addition you will gain 20 CPD points for your REPs membership.
REPs (The Register of Exercise Professionals) is the largest public independent register which provides regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet National Occupational Standards agreed by the health and fitness industry. Membership with REPs is valued and respected, enhancing employability and is recognised in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
