Designing Pre and Post-Natal Exercise Programmes is perfect for:

Students will learn how to:

  • Design and implement an effective and successful exercise plan for both pre-natal and post-natal clients
  • Understand the key considerations for pre and post-natal clients participating in physical activity

HOW IT WORKS:

Support is provided for up to 12 months but it is entirely up to you how quickly you work through the course. The estimated study time is 40 hours so if you average around 5 hours a week study you would complete in 3-4 months.

The course can be studied online through an online learning platform of via a student pack which is delivered hard copy in folders. This is yours to keep so you can write on it, make notes etc.

Support is provided throughout the course via a tutor who can be emailed at any time should you come across anything you are unsure of. There is also a support team by telephone.

The course is split into two units.

In unit one students will be required to complete a series of worksheets to determine their understanding of key concepts and materials.

In unit two students will complete a case study which requires them to design a programme card for each trimester and post-natal period.

The good news is there are no exams! Once you have completed all the assignments you complete the course.

There are no entry requirements for the course.

SYLLABUS

Unit 1: Physical Activity and Health Considerations for the Pre and Post Natal Client

  • Understand the benefits of physical activity for pre and post natal clients
  • Know the physiological and biomechanical changes that take place during pregnancy
  • Understand the key considerations for pre and post natal clients participating in physical activity
  • Know the Nutritional Requirements for Pre and Post Natal Clients

Unit 2: Design and Implement Exercise Programmes for the Pre and Post Natal Client

  • Collect information and select appropriate activities with the pre or post natal client
  • Design an individualised, safe and effective exercise programme for pre or post natal clients
  • Record the individualised exercise programme for the pre or post natal client
  • Identify and manage specific risks to the pre or post natal client when participating in physical activity

 

COURSE OUTCOME:

At the end of this course successful learners will receive an Active IQ Level 3 Award in Designing Pre and Post-Natal Exercise. This means that you will achieve a Level 3 qualification on the Regulated Qualification Framework.
